After many years of teaching art in Australia, Germany and the United States, Allgood is now devoting himself to his art. Recently, he began to create reduction linocut prints - a type of relief print using linoleum as the printing surface, where the artist develops all colors from the same block, removing or cutting away more material from the block before every application of color and each color is printed on top of the previous. In 2011, Allgood was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal small-cell lung cancer, which metastasized to his liver and lymph glands. He believes his focus on his artistic endeavors has contributed to his survival. Allgood earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Arts in education from Portland State University.
