Always a keen observer of her surroundings, Dacota has been recording her observations on paper since childhood. Dacota received a Bachelor degree in Art Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. Following a traumatic stroke that affected her vision, Dacota began to paint as a therapeutic means to stimulate brain activity. Having experimented with various techniques and media, Dacota currently works with tar, wax and oil paint to create a dramatic surface. Her paintings contain vivid color, expressive form and a sense of movement. She now paints every day, and participates in curated art shows in Florida and in the Northeast.
